more
you deserve more, right?
Always ask more of your employer.
More support, resources, and money.
They will always expect more from you, and have set the precedent in the relationship making it OK for you to do the same.
That can look like...
Asking if they have any sort of continuing education budget (they usually do, but they don't always promote it). Take advantage of that and get some new skills and certifications that will help you earn more.
Keep you manager informed on anything that's keeping you from meeting the expectation that the company has for you. In sales, always ask for better accounts, and more of them.
Ask for a raise at least once a year. Find out when they make those decisions. It's usually in regular intervals. Find out the process and who's involved. Build a business case document showing how you're already working above your pay grade. Do some research on Glassdoor, and similar sites, to find out what you should be making. Show it to them.
If you're bumping your head on a glass ceiling and seem to be at the end of your career path, invent a new one! If you have an idea to help the business, put a business plan together and pitch them on it. See if you can sell them on you building out a new function or team.
Just never stop pressing them.
There are 24 hours in a day, but we're asleep for 8 of them! 👀
That leaves 16 waking hours in a day. ⏳
You give half to them, and keep the other half for yourself.
We don't have much time at all when you think about it like this.
Make it worth it.
