The Wide World of Sales

Everything is sold at some point

The first thing I ask career coaching clients who come to me because they want help transitioning out of sales is...

"What about selling do you absolutely hate?"

A lot of times the answers are specific to software sales roles, but not universal to all sales roles.

In those instances I always recommend they consider a sales role outside of tech.

You can make loads of money in industries like...

  • home services (roofing, solar, HVAC, etc)

  • heavy equipment

  • building materials

  • real estate

  • auto

  • insurance (the residual income on commercial lines can be insane 💰)

  • a bunch more

Almost everything is sold by someone.

In a lot of these industries, there's a lot more stability and predictability to hitting your number.

Before you completely walk away from the dark arts, give non-tech sales a look.
